Compact half-mask escape respirator for industrial emergency egress

This compact half-mask escape respirator is a cost-effective solution for employees who can be trained to use the device in advance. Its small size makes it easy to carry throughout a shift, and a trained user can don it quickly by positioning the half mask and adjusting the head straps correctly.

Its respiratory protection and escape-time class are the same as those of the hooded alternative: ABEKP filtration and a 15-minute class under DIN 58647-7:1997. In return for its lower cost and compact construction, the user must know how to don the half mask correctly and confirm a secure face seal before escape.

The device is suited to industrial facilities and technical properties where a risk assessment calls for a personally carried escape device for chemical or gas-release scenarios and the additional eye, face and head coverage of a hood is not required. It is intended for short-duration self-rescue only, not for work or prolonged presence in a contaminated atmosphere.

Protection and applications

• ABEKP filtration: organic gases and vapours with boiling points above 65 °C, inorganic gases and vapours, acid gases and vapours, ammonia and its organic derivatives, plus dusts, fumes and mists.
• 15-minute class: the filtering self-rescue device is tested to DIN 58647-7:1997 for ABEK gases and P particulates. The rating is based on standardised test conditions and is not a universal 15-minute guarantee at every concentration.
• Typical applications: process and chemical industries, energy and water utilities, maintenance, production facilities, warehouses and technical properties where the identified substances are within the filter's scope.
• Typical user: trained employees who need a lightweight, personally carried escape respirator.
