Easy-to-don escape hood for demanding industrial evacuation scenarios

The hood is pulled over the head in one movement, allowing rapid donning even by someone who does not use respiratory protective equipment regularly. The hood design is practical for spectacle wearers and reduces the risk of incorrect donning because the internal half mask, wide anti-fog visor and filter form a single assembly.

This makes the device suitable for employees as well as visitors, contractors and sites where levels of respirator experience vary. Individual donning and the seal of the internal half mask must still be checked in advance.

This is the premium option for more demanding sites, although its respiratory protection and escape-time class are the same as those of the half-mask model: ABEKP filtration and a 15-minute class under DIN 58647-7:1997. The main difference lies in donning convenience and the additional coverage around the eyes, face, hair and head.

Protection and applications

• ABEKP filtration: organic gases and vapours with boiling points above 65 °C, inorganic gases and vapours, acid gases and vapours, ammonia and its organic derivatives, plus dusts, fumes and mists.
• 15-minute class: the filtering self-rescue device is tested to DIN 58647-7:1997 for ABEK gases and P particulates. The rating is based on standardised test conditions and is not a universal 15-minute guarantee at every concentration.
• Typical applications: process and chemical industries, energy and water utilities, maintenance, production facilities and sites where identified gases and particulates may occur along an escape route.
• Typical user: employees, visitors and contractors, particularly where levels of respirator experience vary.

• Single-use emergency escape device. After use, remove the device from service in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Limitations

• Do not use where oxygen concentration is below 17% by volume.
• Does not protect against carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), or organic vapours with boiling points below 65 °C.
• This is not a general-purpose fire escape hood. Suitability for a fire-related scenario must be confirmed against the identified gases and particulates because fire smoke may contain carbon monoxide.
• Not intended for work, prolonged exposure, or unknown gases and concentrations without site-specific confirmation.
