Service life and inspection
The maximum service life of the Ikar GmbH self-retracting wire lifeline is 10 years from the date of manufacture. The service life may be extended through factory inspections performed by the manufacturer, provided the device passes the inspection and shows no signs of damage, wear, corrosion, or malfunction.
The device must be inspected at least once per year by a competent person. The inspection can be performed visually without opening the housing. After a fall arrest event or a failed inspection, the device must be removed from service immediately. The final decision on service life extension is made by the manufacturer based on the factory inspection.
